Events

FirstHope for Family sponsors a weekly Saturday Respite, which includes reading literacy, enrichment, nutrition and wellness, for women and children, which gives them an opportunity to de-stress in a supportive, enriching environment, where they are served a continental breakfast, and modest lunch. Donated books, and educational materials are provided; many of which are often given to them to own as they build their personal knowledge. Firsthope for Family encourages women to build home libraries, that help their children develop a love for reading and the vicarious sense of freedom and empowerment it brings, as they share with others in their homes, families and communities.

Events also include the ongoing giving away of material goods to women and children such as disposable diapers and coats.  A box of disposable diapers often starts at around $25.00 a box.  Many of the women we serve, although they work, simply cannot afford to do this area the total justice it deserves on their budget.  According a list of ongoing events may include, but is not limited to:

Disposable diaper and coat drives

Back-to-school give aways

Seasonal Giving Events, such as:  Gifts for Christmas/Valentines Day/Easter, and other such days throughout the year, are observed as a part of our purpose to motivate hope, and to create a sense of giving and networking, which  is often more readily accessible to them through the work of our community efforts.
